30-09-01 New Character will appear later on in Season Five Michael Shanks is leaving Stargate SG-1. All of the fans of the show will miss him dearly. Now the producers will have to find a character to replace Daniel Jackson on SG-1. Starguide has reported that this has already been done and that the new regular character will be introduced before the end of the 5th season and gauging fan response to the character. Brad Wright has said that the new character will not be the Tok'Ra Lantash whom we will see this Season. Lantash will be blended with the Earth Air Force Cadet Elliot in the Episode proving ground. Brad Wright said that the new character will be someone that the fans will recognise. "He's a big person," Wright said. "You'll know him." This leads me to believe that he is not anyone we have seen on SG-1, not indicating that anyone who has been on SG-1 is not big, but I believe that the new character will be quite famous for previous work in the same way that Richard dean Anderson had been famous for his work on MacGyver prior to taking up Stargate SG-1. Brad Wright also told fans at gatecon 2001, last weekend that the new character would probably be male and a civlian as was Daniel Jackson.
